Gondolas waiting for tourists.




We are walking from our hotel to St. Mark's Square. Some gondolas were being readied for the day. The Church of San Giorgio Maggiore is in the right background. It only has a few remaining monks.

St. Mark's Basilica




This is the main entrance to St. Mark's Basilica. Grand Circle arranged for tickets for us to tour inside without waiting in the long ticket line.

The oldest coffee shop in Italy!




The oldest coffee shop in Italy is located on St. Mark's Square. They had a small band playing when we strolled by.

The Grand Canal




This is taken from The Rialto Bridge.  It is called the Grand Canal because it is the largest of the 177 waterways that intersect Venice.
The Campanile

HIgh tide in Venice



We have seen it on the news but we actually saw this yesterday.  It is hard to pick out but there was about 6 inches of water in the bar of the hotel from high tide.
